Alban holds a B.S degree in Computer Engineering from Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Mbarara, Uganda in 2016. He has served as a data editor at the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, the national statistics office where he often led projects that focused on the identification of novel data sources for the consumer price index. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Mobile and Embedded student at The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, Arusha-Tanzania. His research interests include AI4development and Internet governance. Since January 2020, he has been actively working with the climate working group of Mechanism design for social good (http://md4sg.com/workinggroups/environment.html), a multi-institutional initiative using techniques from algorithms, optimization, and mechanism good to solve global issues. Alban is also a co-founder of Next African Innovation, Inc., a Ugandan- based ICT company geared towards using technology to solve Uganda’s most pressing issues. He is also a regular conference speaker across the East African region and a seasoned ICT consultant, with a passion to call upon organizations to tap into the opportunities provided by the 4th industrial revolution technologies.
Ivan is a very ambitious, confident, hardworking and an outstanding gentleman with proven coordination, facilitation, and training skills. Ivan is also an approachable, dedicated, dynamic, self-motivated, and an articulate person committed to work and always persevering to achieve the best results. He is currently a Master’s candidate in Embedded and Mobile Systems at the NM-AIST, Arusha with a high level of integrity and honesty. Ivan is the Projects Lead and Co-Founder for Next African Innovation, based in Kampala Uganda.
Joshua Bende Falanga is a member of Linux Foundation, a software engineer who is passionate about information systems, cybernetics and cyber security. At only 21 years old He finished his higher studies and holds a diploma of engineer in software systems computer engineering at ESIS (École supérieure d’Informatique Salama. | esisalama.com). He also holds several international certifications such as Linux Foundation Certified Linux Professional, RedHat Linux Certified Engineer, Kali Linux Certified Professional, Certified Ethical Hacker, CCNA, CCSP currently as development and security engineer at Atom Systems in Kinshasa, DRC. Currently he is member and executive secretary for Central Africa of Open Source Africa, which is located in Nigeria, and for 2 years already, he is maintainer and contributor of the Linux distribution Fedora Linux. He worked on the establishment of a Congolese cyber space, which allowed the installation of FreeBasics (freebasics.com). He is passionate about software development and computer security, he is in the process of registering soon to perfect a Master degree in Cyber-Security at the Technological University of Troyes in France.
Kaluuma is currently pursuing a Masters in Embedded and Mobile systems. I also possess a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering from Makerere University. I have worked as a Service Desk Engineer at Cellulant a Fintech for two years and IT Logic as a technical support staff for a year. I have skills and experience in programming, in php, Java, Android, python, HTML, CSS and C. Kaluuma has knowledge in SQL databases, Machine learning and Embedded Systems development. I have worked on many machine learning and data science projects on Zindi Africa platform as well as on different software projects. I also have experience in Systems Administration in windows as well computer Networking.Hillary is the Technology Lead and Co-Founder for Next African Innovation, Inc. a startup based in Kampala Uganda.
George is a social Entrepreneur, Technology enthusiast, a highly astute, responsible, goal oriented, enthusiastic, people-oriented, professional, creative, CEO & Founder of SmartCore Enterprise, He has more than 6 years of experience working directly with youth & emerging technologies. He is passionate about various fields including social entrepreneurship, technology innovation and education, he worked with various organizations both local and international such as Digital Opportunity Trust, Anza, YALI EAST AFRICA RLC, Shona, Deloitte, and University of Dodoma.
Rebecca is part of the management of Core23Lab, a National Geographic explorer (2019), a techie, writer, researcher and a lover of nature. Her work has been on leveraging technology solutions to solve community challenges including innovation, capacity building, research and gender mainstreaming STEAM. She has been an Internet Society fellow, a Google Policy fellow among other fellowships and has served as one of the Co-founders of Digital Grassroots. Rebecca is passionate about the community, technology, innovation and bridging digital gaps in societies.
Pendo is a seasoned lecturer in English language; she is currently a Lecturer at The University of Arusha, an adjunct Lecturer at Makumira University and Ekenford University all in Tanzania. Pendo holds a B.A in English Language form Spicer Memorial College (India) and a master’s degree in English Teaching from Makumira University (Tanzania).Pendo considers herself an expert in Linguistics, teaching English as a second language(written, spoken and grammar),English Syntax ,morphology and semantics. She brings with her a wealth of experience in teaching English proficiency to non-native speakers and 30 years of teaching, researching, public speaking, writing skills and addressing language barriers in communities.
Jean is the founder of Core23Lab, an enthusiastic Network Engineer who is passionate about technology and access to opportunities for youth. He holds a BST in Networking and communications systems from Baraton University (Kenya) and masters in Project management from Roehampton University (UK).He currently works as the Network Engineer at Mutanda Mining Company in Kolwezi, DRC.Jean also saves as an advisor to WildNET, a National geographic funded project been implemented in Tanzania to bring connectivity to rural communities of Serengeti and Ngorongoro. He is passionate about community radios and their impact in society as he volunteers as a technician at Kolwezi Area brings with him a wealth of experience in Networking, cybersecurity, sound and video production among others.
