Haki Des Femmes is a women’s rights project that harnesses the accessibility of voice-enabled Android applications in Katanga Swahili. This innovative platform empowers women by providing easy access to crucial information on:

• Marriage and Heritage Laws
• Health Education and Facilitation
• Farming Techniques
• Marketing Strategies

Our voice-enabled chatbot and AI technology deliver information in a user-friendly, interactive format, ensuring that women from all walks of life can access valuable knowledge effortlessly.

This project is proudly sponsored by Mozilla Common Voice, whose support has been instrumental in developing the app and its dataset.

Current Features

The first version of the Haki Des Femmes app focuses on:

With the app officially launched, we are already working on the next phase of development to include:

• Health Check Reminders: Personalized reminders for routine checkups.
• Health Appointments: Schedule and manage health appointments with ease.
• Online Market Platform: A marketplace for women to buy and sell products, fostering economic independence.
• SMS/USSD Integration: Enable users without smartphones to access key features and information via SMS and USSD, broadening accessibility.
• Offline Model: Develop an offline version of the app to reduce internet costs and ensure uninterrupted access to critical information.

The current pilot test is underway in the Grand Katanga region, with plans to expand to the rest of the region soon. Each new feature will incorporate voice integration, allowing users to ask questions and receive answers seamlessly.
